Abstract

850,235. Cores. BIRMIDAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Dec. 16, 1957 [Dec. 14, 1956], No. 38180/56. Class 83 (1). A core comprises a preformed, prehardened insert having a surface which forms part of the pattern surface of the core, and embedded in a body part of moulding-material hardened by a catalyst or gaseous hardener, the insert being composed of a moulding-material which, when hardened, is of greater mechanical strength than the hardened material of the body portion. A core for a monobloc I.C.E. casting has inserts 1 of resin-bonded sand, around which are blown a body-portion 2 of moulding-material with a sodium-silicate binder, and hardened by CO2. According to the Provisional Specification, the invention is applicable to moulds also. Specification 829,282 is referred to.
