Class 137 Relates to a diesel-powered rail-car of the type wherein a duct 2 extends from behind the radiator 1 to an outlet 10, the duct having a fan 4 driven from the engine 7 to draw a current of air through the duct. According to the invention the duct has a sharp corner 8 tending to produce a low-pressure region behind it and an opening in the duct 9 at this point induces a suction into the engine-compartment 3, thus ventilating it.
