Abstract

849,385. Semi-conductor circuits. BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATION RESEARCH Ltd. April 14, 1959 [July 9, 1958], No. 22058/58. Class 40(6). A resistive circuit element comprises a Hall amplifier with one of the output terminals connected to one of the input terminals As shown in Fig. 6, terminal T 4 is connected directly to terminal T2, and the effective resistance measured between terminals T 1 and T 3 is negative. The network may be used as an oscillator by connecting a capacitor c between T1 and T3, such that it cancels out the input inductance L11 at the required frequency of oscillation. The Hall amplifier comprises a pot-cote 11 (Fig. 2) containing a winding 10 which constitutes the input circuit and a slice of intrinsic In Sb 12 arranged in the air gap of the cote. The output terminals T3 and T4 (Fig. 3) are connected to the long edges and a pair of terminals 13, 14 through which the bias current I B flows are connected to the ends, the value of the resistive element being controlled by this bias current.
