Abstract

892,959. Transistor oscillating circuits; keying carrier frequencies. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Sept. 13, 1960 [Jan. 27, 1960], No. 31523/60. Classes 40(5) and 40(6). [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL(b)] A narrow band rejection filter 54 of the type disclosed in Specification 882,974, comprising a distributed resistance and capacitance structure in combination with further resistance 51 is used in a feedback path around an amplifier 55 to form an oscillator. The amplifier 55 may be of the transistor type and may be structurally combined with the distributed resistance and capacitance structure. The resistance 51 in the filter may be variable and used to indicate a particular value of a variable quantity, e.g. position, strain, temperature, by use of a suitable resistance element, utilizing the property of the oscillator that for values of the resistance 51 greater than a particular value oscillations cease. The resistance 51 may alternatively be replaced by a direct connection to earth, the network 54 being completed by a condenser, which may be variable, interconnecting its input and output terminals.
