848,575. Signalling and like rockets. SOC. D'ETUDE DE LA PROPULSION PAR REACTION. Sept. 16, 1957 [March 28, 1957], No. 29140/57. Class 9(2). A rocket which may be used to carry a cable, open a parachute, or may contain illuminating, smoke - producing or explosive charges, comprises a casing 1 housing a propellant 5 surrounding an ignition charge 6 and a nozzle 8 with a tubular extension 9 to fit over a launching tube 11 carried by a plate 10. The casing 1 has a lining 2 and a cover 3 of heat-insulating material, e.g. treated cardboard, the cover 3 being secured by adhesive 4. Within the nozzle is a primer 7 aligned with a spring-stressed striker 13 in the tube 11. The striker is held at safe by a transverse pin 14 secured by a wire 15. When a pull is applied to the pin 14 by means of a cable 18, the wire 15 breaks, the pin 14 is withdrawn and the striker fires the primer 7. If the rocket carries a cable, the cable 16 may be attached by means of a strap 17 having divergent arms with inwardly bent ends engaged in diametrically opposed recesses in the casing 1.
