Abstract

848,312. Release paper &c. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. March 4, 1959 [March 26, 1958], No. 7550/59. Class 96. Paper, paper-board, pulpboard, parchment paper, linen rag paper, rice paper, or glassine &c. is rendered non-adherent &c., e.g. to asphalt, tars, waxes, pastes, frozen foods &c., as by immersing the paper &c. in a bath containing as active ingredients (1) a linear polydimethylsiloxane containing terminal, silicon-bonded hydroxy groups; (2) a polyalkyl silicate, or, e.g., a mixture of polyethyl polysilicates; and (3) dibutyl tin dilaurate or dibutyl tin diacetate. The proportions by weight may be 1 to 20% of (1), 0.1 to 40% of (2), 0.01 to 5% of (3), and optionally 75 to 97% of an organic solvent, e.g. toluene. After treatment, the paper &c. is dried, e.g. for 2 to 20 minutes, at 50‹ to 125‹ C. The viscosity of (1) may be 50 to 2,000,000 centipoises, at 25 C., which may be reduced by blowing steam thereover.
