Abstract
847,957. Electrodeposition of alloy gold. SEL-REX CORPORATION. Oct. 7, 1957 [Oct. 19, 1956], No. 31319/57. Class 41 Pale yellow alloy gold is electro-deposited from a cyanide bath containing per U.S. gallon 4 to 16 oz. potassium cyanide, 0À5 to 2À5 oz. (troy) potassium gold cyanide, 2 to 6 oz. potassium hydroxide, 0À02 to 1À6 oz. of antimony and 1 to 6 oz. polyhydric alcohol. To obtain a mirror bright deposit, 10 to 9 ccs. of a sulphonated oil may be added. Typically the antimony is supplied as potassium antimonyl tartrate, the polyhydric alcohol is glycerol, and the brightener is sulphonated castor oil. Alloy deposits of 1 mil or more may be employed and may be made directly on to polished steel or scratch-brushed metal, although in this case a mirror finish is not achieved.
