Class 89(3) A stapling appliance comprises a handle part. a staple driveway and a staple magazine projecting transversely of the driveway, wherein the magazine is arranged for angular adjustment about the direction of staple ejection and relatively to the said handle part. In Fig. 1 a staple magazine 37 is carried by a staple guideway structure 26 which is integral with a screwed end-cap 24 at the forward end of a tube 18 in which a spring loaded piston 29 carrying a driving blade 27 is guided for forward movement under the action of compressed air introduced into the tube 18 at the rear of the piston. A handle 12 has an upper part formed with a cylindrical hole 13 in which the tube 18 is received. The tube 18 is retained in the hole 13 by a screw cap 22 which may be slackened off to permit angular adjustment of the magazine 37 with respect to the handle 12 about the direction of staple ejection. The end-cap 24 is secured by a lock nut 25 which may also be loosened to permit angular adjustment of the magazine 37 with respect to the handle 12 to be effected by rotating the end-cap 24. The handle 12 contains a compressed air supply passage 14 and a vent passage 17, both controlled by a trigger actuated valve 15, which communicate with the tube 18 through a passage 36 between the handle 12 and tube 18. The magazine 37 includes a staple pusher 42, Fig. 2, loaded by a spring 45 and carrying pins 42 provided with knobs 43a which project through guide slots 44 in the sides of the magazine cover. The slots 44 extend sideways for a short distance at the outer end of the magazine to enable the pusher 42 to be moved sideways out of the staple containing chamber 41 to allow a fresh bank of staples to be introduced into the chamber 41 from the outer end of the magazine without the necessity of removing any part of the magazine.
