847,341. Cooling cutting-tools. HESSMERT, G. A., [trading as HESSMERT, G. [firm of]]. Dec. 2, 1958 [Dec. 30, 1957], No. 38879/58. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] A device for spray-cooling and lubricating cutting-tools, particularly milling-cutters, comprises nozzles adjustably connected to annular compressed-air and liquid conduits, so that the spray-discharge of each nozzle can be independently directed to the desired position on the tool. Liquid F, Fig.. 1, is supplied by air admitted at 49, to a conduit 2, and compressedair is supplied to a conduit 31 through a pipe 1, and reducing valves 3, 32. Conduits 2, 31 are connected to annular conduits 9, 8, to which are secured spray-nozzles a-c. Junctionpieces 10, 11, Fig. 3, are brazed on to the conduits 8, 9, and pipes 12, 13, supplying compressed-air and liquid respectively to the nozzles 24 are adjustably located in the junction-pieces, for varying the heights of the nozzles. Each nozzle comprises sections 15, 16, Fig. 9, rotatably adjustable about a pin 18. The liquid and air flow separately from pipes 12 and 13 respectively, Fig. 6, through passages 42, 25 and 43, 26 to arcuate recesses 27, 28, in a stationary member 17, and thence by passages 45, 46 and 21, 22 in a rotatablyadjustable member 20 to ducts 51, 52 in the nozzle leading to the outlets 23. Members 17, 20 are made of yieldable material such as natural or synthetic rubber, so as to be selfsealing, and member 17 has a raised sealing- rib 29. A number of similar spray nozzles 36-38 are connected to conduits 2, 31 by pipes 33-35 and 39-41.
