Abstract

847,184. Sausage skins, cleaning. HUDSON, K. E. Dec. 8, 1958 [Sept. 5, 1958], No. 28500/58. Class 28(2). Animal gut is cleaned by passing it between a horizontal row of rollers 9 to 14 which are mounted on overhung projecting shafts 3 to 8 projecting from one or both sides (to facilitate removal) of a pedestal 1, some of the rollers acting as squeeze rollers and others e.g. 12, 13 act as scouring rollers. The roller shafts are mounted in eccentrics which are adjusted to adjust the nip of the rollers. The rollers may be serrated, fluted or grooved &c. and the surfaces may be of rubber, synthetic resin &c. or may have bristles. Jets of water may be supplied through pipes 24 &c. The rollers may have cleaning scrapers 27.
