Abstract

Machine is applied to the heads of animals, esp. calves, after scalding. A series of rollers, with horizontal axes and driven at different speeds, each support a series of scrapers which project from the external faces of the rollers. The heads are introduced into the machine and fall on the lower rollers, these, by the action of their scrapers cause the rapid and complete removal of the hairs. A continuous water spray pref. at 60 degrees C, removes the detached hairs in a hygienic manner.
