846,236. Rifle grenades; sighting devices. ANSTALT FUR DIE ENTWICKLUNG VON ERFINDUNGEN UND GEWERBLICHEN ANWENDUNGEN ENERGA. Feb. 2, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1956], No. 3683/59. Classes 9(1) and 119. A sighting device for use with rifle grenades comprises a transparent bar 1 Fig. 3 provided with two spring strips 3 which permit it to be clipped on to one of the fins 4 of the grenade and with a stop 6 which locates it in position, the dimensions being such that during transport and storage, the device can be housed in the fincarrying tail 5 of the grenade as shown in Fig. 1. In order to fire, a plug 7 provided with the propulsive cartridge 8 is removed, the sighting device is removed from the tail 5 and clipped on to the grenade which is placed on the throwing sleeve attached to the rifle. The sighting device is thrown off on firing. The bar 1 is provided with a series of notches 2 graduated according to range or it may be provided with painted or engraved levels. The device functions as a backsight, the edge of the grenade constituting the foresight. If the fin assembly contains an annular part, the sighting device can be fastened there in addition.
