Abstract

846,216. Washing granular materials. WESTERN MACHINERY CO. Nov. 14, 1958 [July 24, 1958], No. 36665/58. Class 82(2) A rotary separator for sink and float separation has an overflow weir for the discharge of floats and at least one scoop associated with the weir to assist in discharging oversized particles. As shown, the separator comprises a rotary drum 12 provided with annular end-plates 36, 38. Aperture 39 in plate 38 forms the weir to which is attached scoop 78, said scoop comprising a rigid perforated semi-cylindrical plate 80. Material to be separated is fed into the drum via trough 62, floats discharging into launder 66 and sinks being dropped into trough 68 by lifter blades 40.
