Class 98(2) A surface developing device has one or more pairs of driven rollers 23, 24 and 27, 28 of inclined location as shown to direct a film or sheet introduced therebetween to the surface of one or more respective baths or tanks 10 and 11 containing guide elements 12 at liquid-surface level extending parallel or angularly inclined to the direction of advance of the film or sheet, and may have a further pair of driven rollers 31, 32 after the last tank to press out the liquid and allow it to enter a chamber 33. The second tank 11 is at a lower level than tank 10. Housing 39 with lid 38 and a conventional liquid level container arrangement 13 are provided.
