Abstract

845,706. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Nov. 22, 1956 [Nov. 29, 1955], No. 35762/56. Class 6(3). [Also in Group X] In a side-delivery rake, the rake-wheels comprise oblique discs 21 driven by groundcontact, each disc having an outer marginal portion of flexible resilient material such as rubber or synthetic resin. The machine comprises a bifurcated frame 1, 2, the upper ends being formed into handles 4 and the lower ends carrying ground-wheels 8, 9. A beam 19 carrying the discs 21 is integral with an arm 18 rotatable within a bearing 16 itself rotatable on an axle 10 and lockable by a pin 13 in a raised position. Each rake-wheel Fig. 6, comprises a hub 30 and a rigid disc 32 to which is fixed the flexible disc 34, the flexible disc having integral projections 36, 37 on its face or edge and having a ring of slots or holes 38 to increase its flexibility. In modifications the projections comprise arcuate ribs, concentric ribs, or a continuous spiral rib, and the rigid disc may be dispensed with, the rubber disc being thickened near the hub. The device may be used for sweeping streets (see Group X). Specification 845,703 is referred to.
