Class 100(1) [Also in Group XXV] A device for automatically stopping a machine applying insulating tape to wires or cables when the supply of insulating tape is interrupted includes electric contacts closed by a spring- urged, slidable bearing for a guide roller over which the tape passes when the force due to the tension in the tape ceases. A roller 6 about which insulating tape passes to the conductor is mounted in bearings 7 which permit pivoting about an axis perpendicular to that of the roller 6 and in bearings 11 urged by a member 12 biassed by a spring 13 against a movable contact 14 under the influence of spring 16 normally restrained by the force due to the tension of the tape out of contact with a fixed contact 15 connected by a terminal 18 and a terminal 22 to the circuit controlling the main drive of the machine, so that if the tension ceases the roller 6 pivots and closes the contacts to stop the machine.
