Abstract

844,082. Liquid applicators. OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS CO. Nov. 2, 1957, No. 34270/57. Class 81(2) [Also in Group XXIII]. An applicator or dispenser unit 13 for insertion into the open neck 11 of a container 10 has a ball 12 freely mounted in and projecting from the outer end of the unit 13. The lower part 13d and a flange 13a of the unit are respectively fitted into and sprung over the neck of the container. The ball is normally maintained off of an annular seat 13c within the unit by one or more flexible projections 13d so that liquid can pass between the ball and the unit and can be applied by the ball to any chosen surface. When the unit is not in use a cap 14 is screwed on to the threaded neck of the container to press the ball on to the seat to close off the container. The projections 13d may be replaced by an annular flange having a series of holes spaced around it.
