Abstract

843,249. Two-part couplings. HUBBELL Inc., H. Dec. 15, 1958, No. 40364/58. Class 38(1). The body of a connector, such as a plug, is formed in two parts 14, 15 preferably of rubber, the part 14 carrying contacts 17, 18 and an annular plate 34 having an upstanding hook 38 and one or more lugs 39 opposite the hook. The part 15 is formed with a lateral cable entry 24 and carries in a recess 33 a second annular plate 26 having a peripheral flange in which are formed a number of spaced slots 29. The two parts may thus be connected together at different relative angular positions, so as to vary the direction of cable, entry, by engaging the hook 38 in one of the slots 29, swinging the parts together so that lugs 39 fit inside the flange of plate 26 to retain the hook in position and securing the parts together by a screw 41 on member 14 which engages one of a number of tapped holes in plate 26.
