Abstract

842,686. Feeding powdered coal. SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO. Ltd. June 20, 1958, No. 19774/58. Class 78 (1). Powdered coal is fed by screw 2 from hopper 1 to fall down stationary cylinder 5 on to rotary table 4 whence it is discharged down shoot 8 by scraper 7. Cylinder 5 is formed with the curved lower edge shown in Fig. 2 so as to form a discharge port 10 of varying height, and excess powder in the cylinder falls over step 9 formed in the cylinder above the point where the discharge port has minimum height so that the discharge is made uniform. The cylinder is adjustable at 6 and its inner surface may be lined with metal net to make it rough.
