A device for sharpening the blades and cooperating surface of the shearing head of an electric razor in which the blades are pressed elastically against the inner surface of the shearing head consists of thin member 1 provided on upper and lower surfaces with a grinding layer, 2, 3, the total thickness being such that the member can be inserted between the blades and the shearing head surfaces to be sharpened. For razors having a circular shearing head and revolving blades the member 1 is of ring form but if of the reciprocating blade type, in which the blade co-operates with a straight or curved shearing head, the member 1 may be of aluminium foil and sprung to shape if within a curved head or pre-formed and made somewhat longer than the reciprocating sweep of the blade portion. In either case the member 1 will be moved by the moving element relative to the fixed shearing head, to sharpen the cutting elements thereof.
