842,480. Maps, charts. HOLTZ, H. Nov. 14, 1957 [Nov. 15, 1956 ; March 19, 1957 ; May 21, 1957], No. 35527/57. Class 146(2). A chart comprises a flexible element to receive a co-ordinate system or map &c., and at least one stick on member, the element and member being ferromagnetic and acting as a magnet respectively, or vice versa. In the element shown in Fig. 2, iron powder 10 is sprinkled and adhesively secured to a textile fabric 11, e.g. by spraying the powder on to a layer of synthetic plastic material which hardens to form an elastic foil, and a map 9 on linen or paper is applied to the foil. Fig. 1 shows various magnetic members which may, for example, bear labels or inscribable foil, or be in the form of a chain, a thread embodied with magnetic iron paste, a flexible tube filled with iron powder, or two magnets connected by a thread for use as a plummet. The stick on members may comprise an electric type material, e.g. a synthetic plastic whose molecules are aligned during manufacture in a strong electrical field and remain in this position when the plastic sets. Shapes stamped out of thin sheet metal may be attached to stick on members on the chart, and further stick on magnets mounted on the shapes.
