Abstract
841,877. Rotary joints. DAMIC CONTROLS Ltd. Sept. 15, 1958 [June 14, 1957], No. 18884/57. Class 99(1). In a swivel type connector, Fig. 1, the enlarged head 9 of a spigot 1 sealingly engages the wall of a blind boring 10 in a connector 11 by means of an 0-ring 20 located in an annular groove in the head 9, the spigot leaving an axial boring 16 extending partly through the head 9 and radial borings 18 extending outwardly from the boring 16 for connection with the bore 14 of a branch member 13 which is brazed to the connector 11 and is connected to a fluid supply conduit. As shown, the spigot 1 and the connector 11 are secured by a nut 22 with a sealing ring 23 therebetween. A flange 3 brazed on the end of the spigot 1 is sealingly secured to a rotatable component 5. In a modification, Fig. 3, the spigot 1 is mounted on ball bearings 28 in the connector 11 and both parts are secured together by a circlip 31 located in an annular groove in the connector 11, the spigot bore 16 communicating with the bore 14 of the member 13 through a single radial bore 25 and an offset bore 26.
