[Also in Group XX] The coaxial diaphragm setting and shutter speed setting rings of a photographic shutter are so mounted that they may be rotated separately or may be coupled together for common rotation and are connected to an intermediate ring, having a cam surface contacted by a follow-up member for operating a movable part of an exposure meter, in such a manner that the rotation of one or other of the setting rings effects axial adjustment of the intermediate ring, whereas the latter remains stationary when both setting rings are rotated together. As shown, the shutter speed setting ring 6 is threaded on the intermediate cam ring 9, a stud 10 on which engages in an axial guide 5a projecting from the diaphragm setting ring 5 so that rotation of ring 5 on ring 6 axially adjusts ring 9. A slot in the flange 5d of ring 5 accommodates a finger lever 29 carried by a spring strip so that prongs on the lever engage notches in the periphery of flange 6b of ring 6 to couple rings 5, 6 together for common rotation during which the ring 9 does not move. Cam 9 is coupled to an exposure meter, which may be photo-electric, by a slidable lever 11 which presses against a sector gear 13 connected through a pinion 16 with a ring 17, 18 having a slot 24 through which the meter pointer 25 is visible and carrying another ring 20, adjustable relatively to ring 17, 18. In use, ring 20 is rotated alone until the graduation 21 corresponding to the film speed used registers with index 22 on ring 17, 18 and then finger lever 29 is depressed to uncouple the rings 5, 6 one of which is then rotated until the index 23 on ring 17, 18 registers with the meter pointer 25, Thereafter, finger lever 29 is released and rings 5, 6 are rotated together to allow selection of the desired diaphragm and shutter speed values.
