Abstract

840,722. Supports for fluorescent lamps. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 22, 1957 [May 23, 1956], No. 15998/56. Classes 75(3) and 75(4). A fitting for a fluorescent tube, especially a long tube e.g. 8 ft., comprises two sections 10, 11 hinged together so that the fitting can be folded in half, a hook or handle 17 adjacent to or forming part of the hinge and means which may take the form of open ended slots 15, 16 for enabling the ends of the fitting to be secured to co-operating supports. The fitting is adapted for securing to trunking on which it is supported by a hook engaging the handle 17 and by bolts moving in slots in the trunking so that they can be passed through apertures 13, 14 in the sections and engaged in the slots 15, 16. After erection, reflecting surfaces may be bolted to the sides of the sections 10, 11.
