Abstract

1,029,022. Suspended ceiling. J. FISCHER. Aug. 21, 1963 [Sept. 3, 1962], No. 33068/63. Heading E1V. A suspended ceiling comprises carrying rails 6, Fig. 1, each having a flange 10 which is directed downwards to border the end faces of trough-shaped panel-forming elements 3, and a flange 9 at right angles to the flange 10 which is provided with lugs 5 which engage mounting flanges along at least one longitudinal edge of each trough shaped element 3. Flanges 13 opposed to the flanges 9 may be provided on the rails to support lighting fittings 15. Alternatively the flanges 13 may have lugs 5 so that the rails may support elements 3 on each side of the flange 10. Flanges 11 opposed to flanges 10 provide means for securing hangers 7 of the kind having a pair of straps secured together in longitudinally adjustable relationship by clamps 8. As shown in Fig. 1, the rails 6 may be located on opposite sides of a partition 14 which extends up to the structural ceiling. The rail shown in Fig. 4 comprises flanges 9 and 11 having lugs 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, which rail may be moved between two possible operative positions by a rotation through 90 degrees. The visible faces of the flanges 10, 13 may have decorative fluting 17.
