Abstract

Rubber articles are manufactured by compounding rubber latex with sulphur, an acidic vulcanizing accelerator, and a 1,3-bis-(2-alkyl-phenyl)-guanidine, adding a gelling agent for the latex mix, shaping, gelling, and then vulcanizing the rubber. The alkyl groups of the guanidine compound preferably contain not more than 5 carbon atoms. The acidic vulcanizing accelerator may be a dialkyl dithiocarbamate, e.g. zinc diethyl dithiocarbamate, or an organic compound containing the group C-SH, e.g. mercaptobenzthiazole, or a mercaptan, xanthate, or thiophenol. In examples the gelling agent used is sodium silicofluoride. Specification 696,678 is referred to.
