Abstract

1288616 Vulcanizing accelerators MONSANTO CHEMICALS Ltd 3 Nov 1970 [10 Nov 1969] 54843/69 Heading C3E Elastomers containing at least 10% by weight of units derived from a 1,3-diene are vulcanized using a vulcanizing agent and, as accelerator, a combination of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate and zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazole. In the examples, dry natural rubber and latex compounds are vulcanized using a combination of zinc dibutyldithiophosphate with zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazole. The phosphate may be added to the dry compound as a blend with clay or added as an emulsion to the latex and in one example tributyl thiourea is one of the vulcanizing agents present.
