Abstract
839,854. Pulse transformers. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. June 20, 1957 [June 15, 1956], No. 18609/56. Class 40 (8). A pulse transformer comprises a plurality of coils each comprising a pair of conductors wound on a former with an even distribution of capacitance and inductance therebetween so as to form transmission lines; said lines being connected in parallel at the input and in cascade at the output and the coils being wound on core systems of successively greater magnetic reluctance. Coils 10, 11, 12 and 13 comprising pairs of parallel conductors are wound on cores 19, 20, 21 and 22 and are connected to terminals 5, 6, and 7, 8, as shown. The core 22 is non- magnetic and the total cross-sectional areas of the ferromagnetic cores on which the coils 12, 10 and 11 are wound increase successively so that the pulse speed through the transformer is retarded and pulses of the order of microseconds are transformed without distortion. The conductors of the coils may be in the form of coaxial lines and the cores may be constructed of laminated iron or ferrite.
