Abstract
839,343. Induction heating coils. SEGSWORTH, R. S. Nov. 15, 1956, No. 35019/56. Class 39(3) An induction heating coil unit comprises a cast mass 16 of refractory material having an axial opening therethrough, a heating coil 10, e.g. of copper tubing, through which a cooling medium may be passed, embedded entirely within said mass and extending coaxially with the opening over at least a major part of the length thereof, and a tubular liner 12, e.g. of stainless steel or refractory material, for the passage therethrough of stock to be heated. A fibrous vibration absorbing insulating packing 13 may be provided between the liner 12 and the mass 16 or if a refractory liner is employed the packing may be a light-weight thermal insulating castable refractory. Two or more units may be assembled together.
