Abstract
1,043,002. Induction furnaces. ALLGEMEINEN ELEKTRICITATS - GESELLSCHAFT, and DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G. Jan. 15, 1964 [Jan. 18, 1963], No. 1794/64. Heading H5H. To improve the cooling of the coil 5 of an induction furnace of the submerged resistor type, the space between the coil and the lining 2 is largely occupied by outer and inner metal jackets 11, 12 between which is provided a corrugated cooling surface 13. Cooling air is blown through the spaces 9, 10. The cooling assembly comprising members 11,12,13 is divided into segments 14, 15 electrically insulated from one another, and it may also serve as a tamping core for the lining 2. Instead of being corrugated, the surface 13 may be formed to provide a helical or meander-shaped path between the jackets 11, 12.
