Abstract
839,122. Electrodeposition of indium and its alloys. PHILCO CORPORATION. Aug. 21, 1956, No. 25504/56. Class 41. Indium or an indium alloy, e.g. a cadmiumindium, is cathodically deposited e.g. on iron, steel, copper, nickel or carbon from a melt containing a zinc halide and indium ions of a valence less than three, the latter supplied by the addition to the melt of indium or indium alloy or a salt thereof e.g. indium monochloride. A soluble indium or indium alloy anode or an inert anode may be employed. The melt may also contain an ammonium halide and typically an all-chloride bath is employed at a temperature sufficient to cathodically deposit the metal in molten form. The examples are substantially identical with those disclosed in Specification 830,413.
