Abstract
839,016. Agitating apparatus. TWEEDY & CO. Ltd., G. March 19, 1958 [March 20, 1957], No. 9129/57. Class 86 An agitating apparatus for drums of paint or oil comprises pairs of rollers 24, 26, Figs. 1 and 2 and 28, 30 mounted on shafts 16 and 18 respectively, rotatably carried by an end plate 12 and a driving mechanism housing 14 both on a base plate 10, the roller 24 being eccentrically mounted on the shaft 16 which is driven from an electric motor 34 through belt drives 36, 38. A casing 15 is provided between the plate 12 and the housing 14 and is apertured at 25 to allow passage therethrough of the rollers. Each roller is provided with friction tyres 32 to engage the surface of a drum placed on the roller pairs. An electric heater 40 is provided under the casing 15 to warm the contents of the drums. If desired each shaft may only have one roller or more than two rollers and more than one roller may be eccentrically mounted, e.g. the two rollers on one shaft may be mounted eccentrically and 180 degrees out of plane with each other. The rollers may be provided with flanges to locate the drums endwise. Other means may be provided for moving one or more of the rollers transversely relative to the remaining roller or rollers, e.g. a crank mechanism.
