Abstract

838,046. Surgical pads. SCHOLL MFC. CO. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1958 [Dec. 11, 1957], No. 31265/58. Class 81(2). A bunion pad 2 is formed by superposing and securing together a pair of body parts 4, 5 connected by an indulating neck 8 forming a toe loop 13. The undulations cause the loop to extend obliquely from the plane of the body parts 4, 5 and the undulation 11 fits snugly over the web between adjacent toes. An apertured auxiliary pad 14, Fig. 3, may extend from the convex edge of the undulation 11 to protect a corn between the toes and in a further embodiment (not shown), additional layers may be secured to either or both surfaces of the pad 14 to act as a toe straightener. Suggested materials for the pad are foam, latex, polyurethane foam or polyvinyl chloride foam, preferably covered with a smooth film of plastics material perforated at 7, or felt, and the body parts may be cemented or stitched together.
