Abstract

814,498. Catamenial appliances. WILSON, S. Feb. 14, 1958 [Feb. 18, 1957], No. 5369/57 Class 81 (2). A sanitary pad has a former 10 of foamed synthetic resin with surface layers 11, 12 of tissue, lint or similar absorbent material. The whole pad is enclosed in a gauze wrapper 13 in the normal manner. The use of such a former prevents the pad folding and creasing in use but retains sufficient resilience to ensure comfort. In one modified form of pad the foam former is slightly narrower than the finished pad and is completely enclosed in absorbent material while in a third form it is displaced towards one face of the pad so as to give an increased thickness of absorbent material on the side next to the wearer.
