Abstract

836,608. Carburetters. HEFTLER, M. B., and HEFTLER, P. V. Oct. 2, 1956, No. 29949/56. Class 7(3) A heat exchanger 12 is associated with the idling conduit 7 which draws in fuel from a constant level fuel well, not shown, through a restriction 10 and air through an air bleed 11. The heat exchanger may be heated by the engine or by some part or medium associated with the engine. It can be built into a cylinder head bolt and on liquid cooled engines, its maximum temperature will be limited by a coolant thermostat (not shown), of the engine. It may be heated by the exhaust manifold. In a modification a by-pass conduit is connected between the conduits 6, 7 and a restriction may be located in this conduit and in each of the conduits 6, 7 adjacent the heat exchanger. The fuel used may be alcohol.
