Abstract

836,573. Electrically - tripped switches. ARROW ELECTRIC SWITCHES Ltd. Feb. 25, 1958 [March 11, 1957] No. 6011/58. Class 38 (5). A latching unit for a contactor such as that described in Specification 836,572, is mounted as a unit on the contactor and comprises a support bracket 20, a latch 30 pivoted at 33 thereon, a coil 22 and a plunger armature 27. The latch 30 carries an adjustable nose 37 which engages the contactor carriage 45 so as to retain it in the energized or de-energized or in both positions. When the nose 37 is adjusted so that its edge 37<SP>1</SP> engages the end 45e of the carriage the latter will be held in the energized position. When the edge 37<SP>1</SP> is adjusted to engage the edge 45<SP>1</SP> of a hole 45a, the carriage will be held in the de-energized position. The nose 37<SP>1</SP> may be turned through 90 degrees from the position shown to latch the carriage in both positions. On energization of the coil 22 a striker 29 on the armature 27 strikes the latch to release the carriage.
