Abstract

836,292. Escalators. RHEINSTAHL HAMBURG, STAHLBAU EGGERS & F. KEHRHAHN G.m.b.H. Feb. 26, 1958 [May 24, 1957], No. 6199/58. Class 78 (1). A moving staircase of the kind comprising endless chains between which are mounted a succession of steps has a framework composed principally of tubular members. As shown, the framework comprises two side structures each composed of longitudinal tubular members 1a, 2a and bracing tubular members 9, the side structures being connected by horizontal tubular members 5. Rails 3 for supporting the chains are secured to the members 5 by connector sleeves 4 which are either split or in two halves so that they may be clamped in place by removable bolts. Rails 6 for supporting the lower runs of the chains are similarly clamped to the bracing members 9 by sleeves 8, while further connector sleeves 14, 15 secure outer and inner panels 10, 12 respectively to the members 9. The hand rails 17 are supported on guides 16 which are secured to the members 1a, 2a by connector sleeves 18.
