Abstract

836,110. Automatic voltage and current control systems. BOSCH G.m.b.H., R. July 12, 1957 [July 27,1956], No. 24262/59. Divided out of 835,210. Class 38 (4). In a vibrating contact regulator for a shunt wound D.C. generator, a transistor is interposed between the contacts and the field winding, thereby reducing the current handled by the contacts. A transistor 10 is connected in common emitter mode in series with the field winding F across the armature G and is rendered conducting when the contacts of the regulator 12 open and remove the negative base bias. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the contacts of the regulator close at the regulated voltage, so the biasing polarity is reversed. In other modifications, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the transistor in series with the field is connected in common collector mode, and the base bias is controlled either by a single vibrating contact regulator which includes a load current limiting winding; or by separate voltage and current regulators so as to give two-stage regulation.
