Abstract

Ethylene dichloride is stabilized by the addition of diisopropylamine, preferably in a proportion of 0.005-0.10% by weight of the ethylene dichloride.ALSO:Ethylene dichloride is stabilized by incorporating therein a small proportion of di-isopropylamine. The amount of di-isopropylamine used is preferably in the range of 0.005-0.10% by weight of the ethylene di-chloride. Crude ethylene dichloride may first be purified by treatment with an amine having a boiling-point higher than ethylene dichloride e.g. aniline or morpholine, fractionally distilling the product and if desired, washing with a solution of an inorganic base. Examples and tables are given.
