Abstract

834,780. Travelling-wave tubes. MULLARD Ltd. Jan. 14, 1959, No. 1391/59. Class 39(1). A coupling arrangement for a travelling- wave tube at the end remote from the gun comprises a conductor 6 and a choke coupling 4, 5 within the envelope. Member 4 is a cylindrical end connector of the helical or other form of a delay line 2, and member 5 is the electron collector. The coupling arrangement is completed by cylinder 7 which forms the outer conductor of the coaxial line. Helix 2 is connected to member 4 through a quarter-wave coupling section 3 as describied in Specification 833,919. The coupling arrangement may be the output coupling of a forward-wave tube or the input coupling of a backward-wave tube.
