Abstract

834,603. Ingot-moulds. FOUNDRY SERVICES Ltd. March 31, 1958 [April 24, 1957], No. 13049/57. Class 83 (1). A feed-head for an ingot-mould comprises a cavity 4 lined with exothermic material 3 and a surrounding layer 2 of insulating material having a passageway 5 therethrough. Some of the cast-metal passes into the passageway 5, and into this metal is placed a bar or hook. The hook is secured to the ingot when the metal has solidified, and can be used for extracting the ingot from the mould instead of having to up-end the mould or use an hydraulic stripping machine. In a modification, the passageway 6, Fig. 2, is formed between the head 2 and the box 1. Specifications 627,678, 769,719, 772,273, 774,490, 774,491 and 775,380 are referred to.
