Class 75(3) In a gas operated flint lighter comprising a control unit detachable from a reservoir provided with a valved burner and a lever, one end of which engages a valve operating part of the burner for opening the valve therein a flint tube on the one hand determines the position, the control unit occupies on the reservoir and on the other hand passes through an opening in the lever to limit a disengaging movement of the lever from the valved burner when the reservoir is to be removed or serves as a pivotal axis for the lever in the disengaging movement. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 3 the lever 17 is provided with a slot 22 engaged about the upper end of the flint tube 3 and is moved from the stop 18 engaging position to the inoperative position, Fig. 3, by lugs 23 extending through the sides of the control unit A. The lever 17 is held in the two extreme positions by a spring 24. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 7, the control unit-A and the lever 17 are pivoted horizontally about the flint tube 3 to disengage a slot in the side of the lever 17 from the burner 1. The reservoir B is held against the control unit A by a flanged nut 5 on the bottom of the flint tube 3 and a casing C is slid over the reservoir B into engagement with the control unit A.
