Class 75(3) In a liquefied gas burning cigarette lighter having an operating lever 34, 35 for actuating the gas release valve mechansim 16, the operating lever consists of a thin slightly flexible flat member bent to a broad V in edge view and includes a forked end 40 to coact .with the lighter burner 39 forming part of the release valve mechanism 16 and is characterized by the fork 40 being inwardly continued as a narrow, central longitudinal opening 4. The lever 34, 35 made of steel or a plastic material is provided with an aperture 36 for the flint tube 13. The burner head 39 is of partially spherical or conical formation. The lever may be made from steel wire 4 bent to shape, Fig. 3, and the two ends 23 may be soldered together. The part 34a is bent to form a fork 5 having a narrow opening 21, equivalent to the opening 41 of the lever 34, 35 shown in Fig. 2, and a bulge 22 for the flint tube 13. In a modification shown in Fig. 4 the fork is formed by a loop 24 and the equivalent of the opening 41 by a gap 25 between the wire ends. The thumb piece 7 upwardlybiased by a spring 10, is slidably mounted in bosses 9 and 6 on the upper plate 1 of the lighter casing and has an abutment 42 which operates the lever 34, 35. The casing containing a liquefied gas fuel container 20 comprises upper and lower plates 1 and 2 and a tube 3 held together by the flint tube 13. .
