694,355. Frictional lighters. SOC. D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES TECHNIQUES (S.E.R.T.). May 18, 1949, No. 13325/49. Addition to 682,848. Class 75(iii) The frictional lighter of the parent Specification is modified in that the fuel tank 2 is partially surrounded by an intermediate casing 4, the upper part of which is engaged by the removable ignition mechanism 15. The valve-controlling lever 9 is pivoted on an axle 8, between lugs 7a of a plate 7 which rests on the base of a - housing 6 fixed on top of the intermediate casing 4. A thumb-piece 13 is fixed to a plate 11, depending flanges 11a of which are pivoted on the axle 8. This assembly is slid into the outer casing 1, which has a removable base 1a provided with a lining 5 serving to position the intermediate casing 4, until the thumb-piece 13 projects through an opening 1b in the casing 1 and the plate 11 is in contact with the top of the casing 1. A flint tube 15, integral with a yoke 16 which carries the axle for the flint-wheel 17 and its operating wheel 18, is then slid, via an opening in the casing 1, into a housing 14 which is fixed beside the housing 6. Depression of the thumbpiece 13 causes the lever 9 to open the valve 3, whereupon after ignition of the gas the flame issues through an opening 1c in the casing 1. One side of the intermediate casing 4 is gapped at 4a, so that the reservoir can be pushed out through the. opposite open 'side thereof after removal of the assembly from the casing 1. The reservoir may be of the form described in Specification 600,645.
