Abstract

A nail-varnish removing composition comprises a solvent containing a compound formed by reaction of sulphurous acid with an organic or inorganic base. Suitable compounds are sodium sulphite in the form of an aqueous solution which may be emulsified with the solvent, and the sulphurous acid salt of triethanolamine which may be dissolved in the solvent. Suitable solvents are varnish solvents such as butyl acetate and ethylene glycol mono-ethyl ether. The proportion of compound may be from 5 to 25%.
