Abstract

Detergent compositions, useful as additives to acid pickling baths, comprise (a) a non-ionic liquid detergent consisting of an alkyl phenol/ ethylene oxide condensate; (b) from 10-15% by volume, based on component (a), of a non-ionic liquid emulsifying agent consisting of an ethylene oxide/fatty alcohol condensate; (c) from 10-25% by volume, based on component (a), of a solvent for (a) and (b); and (d) from 3-5% by volume, based on component (a), of an anionic detergent. A specified solvent is isopropanol, and a specified anionic detergent is a mixture of alkyl sulphates and alkaryl sulphonates. In use the composition is diluted with water, preferably in a 1:1 volume ratio.
