Abstract

A detergent germicidal composition contains 15 per cent by weight of 5-chloro-2-hydroxy-diphenylmethane, 50-80 per cent of isopropyl alcohol, 2-10 per cent by weight of an anionic or non-ionic detergent and water. Specified detergents are sodium secondary alkyl sulphate, an alkyl aryl sulphonate, a condensation product of ethylene oxide with alkyl substituted phenol or a fatty alcohol. Specification 657,598, [Group IV], is referred to.ALSO:A germicidal composition contains 8-15 per cent by weight of 5-chloro-2-hydroxy-diphenylmethane, 50-80 per cent of isopropyl alcohol and 2-10 per cent by weight of an anionic or non-ionic detergent and water. The anionic detergent may be an alkyl, e.g. containing 12-18 carbon atoms, sulphate or an alkyl aryl sulphonate or a mixture of both, and may be obtained by neutralization and/or hydrolysis of the product obtained by sulphating a distillation fraction of shale oil. The non-ionic detergent may be a long chain ethylene oxide condensation product with an alkyl substituted phenol or a fatty alcohol. Specification 657,598, [Group IV (c)], is referred to.
