Abstract

834,081. Electric battery lamps. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Sept. 16, 1957 [Feb. 11, 1957], No. 29026/57. Class 75(3) A movable switch actuating means for an electric flash lamp encloses a hollow box-like receptacle in which a magnet is housed which may be used for attachment of the lamp to a metal surface. The switch actuating means 34 comprises a rectangular member preferably of non-magnetic material having flanges 48 secured by rivets passing through slots 32 in casing 14 to a contact strip of the usual form inside the flash lamp. Within the member 34 are two angled collector bars 56 of material, such as steel, conducting magnetic lines of force, the adjacent edges of the bars being spaced apart and the opposite edges projecting slightly through slots 62 in the casing 34. A permanent magnet 64 is housed between the bars 56 and covered by an insulating filler member 66, a spring strip 68 being arranged below the magnet. A protective gasket 40 may be interposed between the casing 14 and the underside of the switch actuating means 34.
