Abstract

833,117. Bomb - proof structures. DUPUY, G. Jan. 1, 1958 [Jan. 4, 1957], No. 30/58. Class 20(1) A bomb-proof structure comprises a platform 1 which carries walls 9 and a roof 10, and a pit P beneath the platform having a supporting wall 2 with foundations 2a and means for controlling the vertical position of the platform relative to the pit. A helical ring 2b projecting from the pit walls supports rollers 3, 4 on the platform so that the structure may be raised or lowered by a rotary movement brought about by a motor M operating on a roller 3. Further rollers 6 run on the vertical faces of the helical rings for stabilizing purposes. The walls 9 project through an opening in the top 8 of the pit and the concrete roof 10 which is lined on the outside with aluminium or stainless steel, is sealed in the closed position by engagement with sand or lead on the top 8. A tank 21 in the roof may be filled with water or boron. An air inlet 12 has a valve 13, and combustion heating is provided with a central flue 15. The device may be used with slight modification to house radar installation.
