Abstract

1460379 Incorporation of organic wastes into solids KERNFORSCHUNG mbH GES FUR 8 Nov 1974 [10 Nov 1973] 48391/74 Heading C1H [Also in Division G6] Solid articles which can be safely transported are produced by mixing an organic waste liquid with an organic solid to form a homogeneous mixture which is soft at room temperature, mixing the organic mixture into a suspension or paste of an hydraulic bonding agent in water in a ratio of up to 0À4 parts by weight of water per part of the hydraulic bonding agent and allowing the hydraulic bonding agent to set to form the solid. The organic waste liquid can be radio-active, those wastes treated in the examples are tributylphosphate in dodecane, thin motor oil and an organic solvent mixture. The organic solid can be bitumen, polyethylene, polyvinylchloride or polystyrene and the hydraulic bonding agent can be Portland cement, blast furnace cement or plaster of Paris.
